Donor Story

Nestled in the City of Erie’s west side is the service area for the Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Network.
This ministry of the Sisters of Saint Joseph is described as a social service and community revitalization organization, dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living in areas of the city suffering from urban decay, high poverty rates, community disorganization, high crime, and low educational achievement. A variety of programs engage the neighborhood, including community gardens, youth activities, home repair assistance, and emergency supplies.
Partnering with the Catholic Foundation to establish the Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network Endowment demonstrates the visionary nature of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. “We believe in lasting change,” says Jenn Kennedy, Donor Relations and Volunteer Coordinator.
"We want to help ensure that the seeds of hope, dignity, and opportunity planted over the last 25 years will continue bearing fruit well into the future. We believe the Foundation’s stewardship ensures our endowment will make a lasting impact—so the Neighborhood Network can keep revitalizing neighborhoods, empowering residents, and creating lasting change for decades to come. What better way to cement the growth and success we’ve experienced than to take steps to build a legacy so future generations thrive!”
The yearly distribution from their fund will support the Neighborhood Network in carrying out its mission for as long as needed. Many of the challenges that inspired the creation of the Neighborhood Network persist across generations.
“Our greatest hope is to one day work ourselves out of a job—because the needs no longer exist!” Jenn says. “Until that day comes, our mission remains: to walk alongside our neighbors, break cycles of poverty, transform lives, and revitalize communities—one block at a time. We hope the Neighborhood Network continues to thrive for as long as our neighbors need us.”
